Valerian Root Side Effects

While Valerian root is non-toxic, it does have several possible side effects if taken in too large doses.  Some of the more common side effects are drowsiness, dizziness, stomach aches,  and anxiety.  Some people have an allergy to Valerian and in these cases it can cause difficulty breathing or skin irritation.

Valerian root works directly on the central nervous system so it should not be taken while on other medication, especially prescription anti depressants, unless recommended by a doctor.
