Herbal Remedies for Anxiety

Anxiety or anxious behavior effects everyone from time to time.  Whether its due to family, work, or some other outside factor we can all relate to feeling stressed out.  There are several herbal remedies for anxiety that also help those who experience mild to moderate depression.

Symptoms of anxiety differ from person to person, some of the possible symptoms include; dry mouth, muscle tension, sweating, trouble concentrating, difficulty breathing, a sense of urgency or feeling nausea.  You may experience one or several of these symptoms when you are anxious, and the symptoms may change depending on the level of stress you are under.

Anxiety is physiologically part of our “fight or flight” mechanism, giving us a strong urge to run or fight when adverse situations arise.  In today’s modern world these are not always viable options and so the anxiety is redirected inwards with negative effects.

Treating anxiety is something you should do if you find yourself in stressful situation frequently.  One of the most important and often easiest ways to control your stress levels is to change your diet.  If you are eating fast food and drinking tons of caffeine (coffee or soda) you will be more anxious than you would be otherwise.  If you are feeling anxious all the time try an experiment and eat only healthy foods and cut out or limit your coffee and soda intake for a couple days and examine the results.  In most cases you will feel better, and not just in the stress department.

There are several specific foods that are known to lower blood pressure or effect internal stress levels.  Try each one on its own so you can determine what works for you.
